Earlier this week (the 2nd of December to be exact), Samsung announced a web browser for its 'Gear VR' (powered by Oculus). The 'Gear VR' is essentially a platform that changes smartphones, into virtual reality systems. (what the Gear VR looks without the smartphone) (It's basically a phone on VR steroids)The 'Samsung Internet for Gear VR' provide an immersive 360 degree view environment, and supports 3D and immersive video, as well as the usual html 5. It provides voice recognition for typing words and a gaze feature which tracks eye movement, allowing the user to choose menus, simply by looking at them. While these features are hardly groundbreaking in terms of technological achievement, it showcases a change software design and user interfaces, so they are better suited to a VR environment. source: news.samsung.com/global/samsung-launches-optimized-web-browser-for-gear-vrHowever, there are other (more exciting) VR browsers, that are going further than the 'Samsung Internet for Gear VR'. JanusVR is an innovative way to browse the web, transforming an otherwise two dimensional internet, into a 3d experience. With 90 thousand community members, it is rapidly growing, and was recently presented at the Silicon Valley Virtual Reality Meetup. The link to their website is here: www.janusvr.com Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the link of the day for today, and if you have any questions, please ask them in the comment section below!
